This notice explains what information the Plaskett–Potter Transition (“the Transition,” “we,” “us”) collects through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. This site is run by the Transition and is not an official Government of the U.S. Virgin Islands website.

Information you give us

We collect the information you choose to submit through forms on this site:

Updates sign-up: your email address and, if you provide it, your mobile number.
Share your ideas: your name, email, island, the policy area you selected and your message.
Inauguration ticket requests: your name, email, the event and the number of guests.
Contact and media inquiries: your name, email, the topic, your message and, if you provide them, your phone number and organization.
Applications to serve: the information and documents you include in an application.

Please don’t include sensitive personal information (such as Social Security numbers, financial account numbers or health information) in a message unless we specifically ask for it.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time of your visit. These logs are used to keep the site secure and working and are kept for a limited time.

This site does not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers. If you use the language switch, a small cookie remembers your language choice, and the page text is sent through the GTranslate service to Google Translate to produce the translation. Google’s handling of that information is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

How we use your information

To send the transition and inauguration updates you asked for.
To read and respond to your ideas, questions and media inquiries.
To process inauguration ticket requests and contact you about events.
To review applications to serve in the administration.
To keep the site secure and to comply with the law.

If you give us your mobile number, we may send you updates by text message. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out. Message and data rates may apply.

How we share information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only:

With service providers who help us run this site and send communications (such as web hosting, email and text-message providers), who may use it only to provide those services to us.
With the incoming administration, where needed for the purpose you submitted it for — for example, an application to serve.
When required by law, or to protect the safety and security of the Transition, the public or this site.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only as long as needed for the purpose you provided it, for the duration of the transition and inauguration, or as required by law. Afterwards it is deleted or, where the law requires, transferred to the appropriate records custodian.

Your choices

Unsubscribe from emails using the link in any message, or reply STOP to texts.
Ask to see, correct or delete the information you submitted by contacting us through the Media & Contact page.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect the information you submit, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No website can guarantee complete security, so please share only what is needed.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

Other websites

This site links to other websites and social media accounts, such as Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it was last changed.
